JBEC Formation Assessment Workshop

As members of the Jesuit Basic Education Commission – Formation cluster, we are all very excited about this first workshop of formators from all Jesuit schools in the Philippines.

Since we would like to base our ‘re-molding’ of our formation program from scientific data, we will hold our Assessment Workshop on 11-15 May 2015 at the Ateneo High School. Participants are our Associate Principals for Formation, Guidance, Testing and Research, and CLE Coordinators. Check these assessment tools here.

I. These are our objectives:

a. To help each other come up with each school’s own Family Conference, Exit Interview, and the Developmental Assets Profile Instruments to aid in assessment of formation goals and growth.
b. To eventually standardize measures of formation goals and growth across all Jesuit schools in the country.

II. Our Program of Activities

May 11: Day 1 – Basics of Assessment and Instrument Construction

May 12: Day 2 – Translating Mission-Vision of each school into Behavioral Indicators

May 13: Day 3 – Presentation of the 3 Assessment Tools (from AHS): Family Conference, Exit Interview, and Developmental Assets Profile; Drafting of the Family Conference Instrument by school.

May 14: Day 4 – Presentation and mutual critique of questionnaire (especially indicators not common among the schools. For example, some schools has “Culture” while others don’t have.)

May 15: Day 5 – Tutorials on Technical Encoding/Treatment of Data and Pretesting.

III. Result of the Workshop

Each school will have their own Family Conference, Exit Interview, and Developmental Assets Profile Instruments, ready for pretesting.

IV. Post Workshop: Once the data has been gathered, the main workshop facilitators will visit each school to supervise interpretation.

I am so excited to see the results.
